- The filing address for Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, varies depending on the following factors:
- Eligibility category
- State where the applicant resides
- USCIS may update filing addresses, so it’s essential to use the latest information available at the time of your filing
Family-Based Adjustment
Family-based Adjustment of Status applicants include:
- A spouse, parent, or unmarried son or daughter (under age 21) of a U.S. citizen and you are the beneficiary of an approved, pending or concurrently filed Form I-130;
- A beneficiary of an approved Form I-130;
- A spouse or child of an immigrant who has applied for adjustment of status or has been granted lawful permanent residence (a Green Card) through a family-sponsored visa category that allows derivative status for spouses and children; or
- A beneficiary of an approved Form I-129F who was admitted to the United States as a K-1 nonimmigrant and married the U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days, or their K-2 dependent.

Certain Special Immigrant Employment-Based Categories and Employment-Based Categories with a Pending or Approved Form I-140
Use the filing address below if you are filing Form I-485 with:
- A pending or approved Form I-360 for an international organization employee or family member.
- You must include a copy of your Form I-797, Notice of Action, showing we accepted or approved your Form I-360; or
- An approved Form I-360 for:
- A special immigrant religious worker;
- Panama Canal Company employment;
- U.S. government in canal zone employment;
- A special immigrant physician; or
- An international broadcaster.
- You must include a copy of your Form I-797, Notice of Action, showing we approved your Form I-360 for any of these categories; or
- A pending or approved Form I-140.
- You must include a copy of your Form I-797, Notice of Action, showing we accepted or approved your Form I-140.
- An approved Form DS-1884 for:
- Certain employees or former employees of the U.S. Government abroad.

Other Filing Categories
- An applicant, including the spouse or child of a qualifying Cuban principal applicant, who is eligible under the Cuban Adjustment Act of Nov. 2, 1966 (Select the first box labeled “The Cuban Adjustment Act” under 1.f. Special Programs Based on Certain Public Laws in Part 2 of Form I-485. Do not select the second box labeled “The Cuban Adjustment Act for battered spouses and children” unless you are an abused spouse or abused child.);
- A registry applicant filing Form I-485 based on continuous residence in the United States since before Jan. 1, 1972;
- A diversity lottery winner eligible to file Form I-485;
- A public interest parolee from certain former Soviet and Southeast Asian countries filing Form I-485 under Pub. L. 101-167 (the “Lautenberg Amendment”);
- A registry applicant filing Form I-485 based on birth in the United States to a foreign diplomat officer;
- A former diplomat filing Form I-485 under section 13 of the Immigration Act of 1957; or
- An applicant who is a beneficiary of a private bill.
