What is Form G-1145?

Form G-1145 is the “e-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance” form issued by USCIS. 

This form is used by individuals who want to receive electronic notifications (email and/or text message) containing receipt number of their application or petition filed with USCIS.

Once USCIS registers your application, you will receive a text message or email (check your spam folder) with your receipt notice. 

You can check the status of your case online by entering your receipt number: https://egov.uscis.gov/

The hard copy notices typically arrive by mail 1-2 weeks after USCIS sends you a notification.

Who needs to file Form G-1145?

Form G-1145, the “e-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance,” is an optional form that individuals can file with certain applications or petitions submitted to USCIS.

It is not required, but individuals may choose to submit it if they wish to receive electronic notifications (email and/or text message) about the acceptance of their application or petition.

Typically, individuals filing the following types of applications or petitions with USCIS may choose to include Form G-1145:

  • I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker
  • I-130, Petition for Alien Relative
  • I-131, Application for Travel Document
  • I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker
  • I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status
  • I-765, Application for Employment Authorization
  • I-821D, Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
  • And other related forms.

Form G-1145 filing fee

Form G-1145 itself does not have a filing fee. 

It is a free form provided by USCIS to allow individuals to request electronic notifications about the registration status of their applications or petitions.

However, it’s essential to note that the filing fee may be associated with the main application or petition that you are submitting to USCIS. 

For example, if you are filing Form I-129, I-130, I-485, or another immigration-related form, there will be a specific filing fee associated with that form.

How to fill out Form G-1145

Instructions on how to fill out Form G-1145:

Download the Form:

  • Obtain the latest version of Form G-1145 from the official USCIS website 

Provide Personal Information:

  • Enter petitioner’s or applicant’s personal information in the required fields, including full name, email address and U.S. phone number
  • For example, if you are filing Form I-130 and want to receive a text/email notification when USCIS registers your form, enter petitioner’s (US citizen’s or permanent resident’s) full name and contact information on Form G-1145
  • If you are filing Forms I-485, I-765 or I-131, enter the applicant’s (person applying for permanent residence, employment authorization or travel document) full name, email address and U.S. phone number on Form G-1145

Include Form G-1145 with Your Application:

  • If you are submitting a paper-based application or petition to USCIS, include the completed Form G-1145 on top of your application package.

Submit the Application Package:

  • Mail your application package, including Form G-1145, to the appropriate USCIS address. 

Wait for Confirmation:

  • Once USCIS receives your application, they will send you notifications via email, text message, or both, as specified on Form G-1145. These notifications will confirm the acceptance of your application and provide a receipt number which you can track online

Receive Hard Copy Notices:

  • You will receive hard copy registration notices from USCIS 1-2 weeks after receiving electronic notification

How many G-1145s do I need to submit if filing several forms at the same time?

If you are concurrently filing several forms, you might need to fill out 2 G-1145 forms. 

For example, if you are filing Forms I-130, I-485, I-765 and I-131 at the same time, you need to complete 2 Forms G-1145 – one for petitioner and second for beneficiary. 

In such a case, petitioner will receive a text message or email containing Form I-130 receipt number and beneficiary will receive text messages or emails containing Forms I-485, I-765 and I-131 receipt numbers.

How soon after submitting Form G-1145 will I receive hard copy USCIS notices by mail?

You will receive hard copy registration notices from USCIS by mail approximately 1-2 weeks after receiving electronic notification(s).
